Our story of empowering change
SpiritAbility started in 2018 with the mission to make a difference to the lives of people living with a disability.
A former Registered Nurse, SpiritAbility founder Amanda (Mandy) Sanders recognised shortcomings in the disability care industry so she set out to create an organisation that not only provided in-home support that met an individual’s physical, educational and mental health needs but also recognised their lifestyle and personality. We call it person-specific support – where the care we provide encourages independence and is tailored specifically to an individual’s needs and wants.
Joining Mandy on the journey toward change was Pamela Johnson. More than friends, the pair are kindred spirits, connected by their shared vision for providing trusted support services that are life changing and a mutual purpose to achieve equality for people with a disability.
Their formidable partnership soon saw SpiritAbility grow from providing support to clients in Orange and Molong in central NSW to delivering exceptional support services across more than 10 towns in Central West NSW.
But disability care should have no bounds which is why SpiritAbility reaches across borders to service clients in need in any part of the state.
Most recently, Mandy stepped back to concentrate on her personal growth while Pamela stepped up to direct, develop and inspire the SpiritAbility team to continue the organisation’s great work: to encourage individuals to be the best version of themselves personally and professionally. And to take the ‘dis’ out of disability.
